Pint & Pizza for the Park: A Small Mahalo for All You Do

Earlier this month, Friends of Haleakalā National Park hosted Pint & Pizza for the Park, a gathering to say mahalo nui loa to our Maui-based Department of the Interior ʻohana.

This event was created as a small but heartfelt way to recognize the many DOI employees who mālama Keālia Pond National Wildlife Refuge and Haleakalā National Park every day. Their work, often quiet and behind the scenes, helps care for some of Maui’s most special places and supports their long-term stewardship.

When we shared our hope to show appreciation for DOI staff, Lāhaina Brew Co. and Flatbread Pizza immediately offered their support. These local businesses are deeply rooted in our Maui community, and their willingness to step up reflects how closely our community holds these parks to its heart.

We extend our sincere thanks to:

  • Lāhaina Brew Co. Upcountry Taproom for hosting and welcoming everyone so warmly (and for the pint of kombucha on the house!)
  • Flatbread Pizza in Pāʻia for donating pizza
  • All DOI staff who joined us for the care and dedication you bring to Maui’s protected places

Living on an island reminds us that showing up for one another is essential. Mahalo nui loa to the FHNP board members and community businesses who made this gathering possible.
